Zwischenlandschaften 3 presents an artistic exploration in response to artworks included in the landmark duo exhibition >Mike Kelley</(Franz West)? at Hôtel Empain (now Villa Empain) in 1999-2000. By bringing together imagery and a monologue comprised of anecdotes, notes and experiences collected from their research and creation process, the video creates a poetic collage that encapsulates Nabuurs&VanDoorn’s in-depth cerebration behind the project. The locations depicted in the video include the Villa Empain in Brussels, where Inge Nabuurs and Erwin Van Doorn presented the exhibition (ZLS)3 feat. >Mike Kelley</(Franz West)? (2018), the route from Mike Kelley’s birth house in Westland to Michigan Avenue in Detroit, and the Viennese forest where Franz West had taken Mike Kelley for a drive in his new Lamborghini.
